Our Story
Witnessing the degradation of her mother’s local reefs, British ceramicist Sara Howard, initiated research on how ceramics can aid reef restoration as an alternative to typical materials used such as steel, plastic and concrete.
Crafting Coral has evolved into a global movement, engaging communities worldwide to raise awareness about the threats facing coral reefs and provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in coral reef restoration. No matter if they are from big cities or remote islands.
Since planting the very first hand made ceramic coral propagation device in 2022, Crafting Coral has expanded to four locations; the Maldives, Bali, and two locations in Lombok. Over 1,000 ceramic coral propagation devices have been hand made globally. Join us in amplifying this number.
